For a long time now, test mules of the next-generation 2024 KTM 390 Duke have been spotted on public roads in India and other countries worldwide. More recently, albeit briefly, we saw the bike for the first time in its final, production Blue and Orange theme paint job.
Upcoming 2024 KTM 390 Duke Details And Spy Shots
The upcoming KTM Duke 390 has been teasing the spy shots. It’s packed with the latest features and will be priced very competitively.
KTM 390 Duke Design
Now that the disguises are gone, the next-generation Duke’s design shines through: it’s a sleek and sophisticated motorcycle. The tank add-ons’ floating sections are a nice touch, and the LED headlight and DRLs on either side are stylish touches as well. This is the kind of motorcycle that you can spend hours studying and still find new things to like. Even the mirror stalks flow into the mirrors themselves, which is an unusual design choice. However, some parts aren’t quite up to par. Some may find the design to be too busy due to the unusual orange panel that separates the rider and pillion seats.
KTM 390 Duke Features
There is no doubt that the next-generation Duke will feature the same high levels of standard equipment as the current 390 models. Anti-lock brakes and traction control will be standard equipment, just like they are on the RC 390 and 390 Adventure. The Duke will also retain its bidirectional quick shifter and TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.
A prototype of the redesigned TFT screen and accompanying switchgear was recently shown to us. There will also be alterations to the hand levers, which will still be adjustable but will do so with a screw on the back of the lever.
KTM 390 Duke Powertrain
Although the engine isn’t shown in the most recent spy photo, we know it will be revolutionary in the next generation. Changes to the crankcases, engine covers, and exhaust routing are all striking departures from the standard motorcycle. The current 373cc engine has remained largely unchanged since its introduction in 2013, and rumors have it that the new bike will have a displacement of 399cc.
There are many ways in which this could help. KTM will have a much harder time increasing the current bike’s output with the current engine as emissions norms continue to tighten, so increasing the bike’s displacement is a necessity. As regulations tighten, motorcycles are expected to get heavier; being able to wring out a little more power would mitigate this effect.
KTM 390 Duke Expected Launch
Pictures of the completed bike have recently appeared online, suggesting a release is imminent. The crash guards on the bike in the video look like they’re being packaged up for shipping. The next-generation Dukes were supposed to debut at the 2023 EICMA in November, but it now appears that we may see them on the market sooner than that.
KTM 390 Duke Expected Price
The updated machine is likely to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of Rs 3.2 lakh, which is a significant increase over the current Rs 2.97 lakh (ex-showroom) price of the 390 Duke.
