The powertrain options for this small SUV have also been made public by the company.
Hyundai Exter 2023 Spy Shots

A South Korean media outlet shared images of the vehicle, which show the Hyundai Exter from both the front and rear. From the first exterior image of the Exter, it is clear that this SUV, which competes with the Tata Punch, will have a very boxy appearance and split headlights. In a sketch they released, the brand teased that the top half would feature H-shaped LED DRLs, and the bottom half would feature square pods with projector headlights, just like the outgoing Hyundai Venue sub-compact SUV.
The upcoming Hyundai Exter will also have a large rectangular grille and a substantial silver skid plate underneath. The SUV will also have some squared-off front wheel arches covered in thick black cladding, as seen in the image, and its body lines will be extremely sharp. The leaked spy photo also reveals a distinctive set of alloy wheels on the side.

Moving on to the rear spy image, we can see that the South Korean automaker’s micro SUV will also have a squared-off appearance. The H pattern on the LED taillamps and the substantial black piece bridging the SUV’s two ends are also visible. The SUV’s C pillar will also have a distinctive design. Moving down a bit more, we can also make out a massive skid plate and a sculpted bumper with thick black cladding.
Hyundai Exter Powertrain
The company has also revealed that the upcoming Hyundai Exter will come with a variety of engine choices. The first option will feature the 1.2L Kappa Petrol engine, which is now E20 Fuel Ready, and is taken from the company’s well-known hatchback, the Grand i10 Nios. The manufacturer also stated that a 5-Speed Manual Transmission and Smart Auto Automated Manual Transmission will be offered as options. Although the company hasn’t disclosed the power ratings for this engine or the other two, it is safe to assume that they will be in the range of 83 PS and 113.8 Nm.
The 1.2L Bi-fuel Kappa petrol with CNG engine will be the other available option. This engine’s maximum power output is anticipated to be 69 PS, and its maximum torque output will be 95.2 Nm. The company also stated that a 5-speed manual transmission will be available with this powertrain.
Hyundai Exter Design and Features
As seen in the company’s photos, the Exter will feature the brand’s recognizable parametric front grille and split headlamp design to connect the vehicle with its current SUV lineup available in India. The Exter will also have projector headlamps, the H-Signature LED DRLs, a sporty skid plate, and a distinctive emblem on the front.
The SUV will also have side sill cladding and a set of alloy wheels with diamond-cut spokes that are enclosed in blacked-out wheel arches. Additionally, the floating roof design of the Hyundai Exter is enhanced by a sporty bridge-style roof rail design and a C-Pillar garnish with a parametric design.
